CCTV systems for hotels

Is it important to have a CCTV system set up in a hotel? Maybe you don't get a lot of crime in the area, if so, is it necessary?

A decent CCTV system in a hotel or guest house is highly recommended by the police and is now much more affordable. Even if your property isn't in a high risk or high traffic area, it's a valuable investment. A well designed system will offer great image recognition which leads to good identification if anything does occur. It's beneficial for marketing and the general running of the hotel as to identifying busy times and customer habits as well as being helpful in ensuring good health and safety risks/concerns. As part of the Aerial Man group, we regularly work in hotels and guesthouses installing Wifi, TV and audio visual systems so we understand the concerns of hoteliers and their guests.

What Should be Covered?

Firstly, you need to think about Privacy! It's important to understand that your guest also has an expectation of privacy and that has to be taken into account. So no recording in private rooms or public restrooms or anywhere where people may feel that their privacy is important.

Exterior of the building

Most customers will feel more secure leaving their vehicle in a car park guarded with an obvious CCTV system and will feel safer when checking into their room in a strange town. You can integrate access control into this too if you like. Stairs and service entrances are also an area with risk attached so it's wise to have these areas covered too. Infra red technology, number plate recognition along with motion sensors will ensure that you get the best out of your CCTV system and it will be usable for years to come.

Entrances & exits

These tend to be the busiest areas and are vital to running an efficient hotel and it's a good way to observe your guests habits and build up a good idea of busy check in/out times (although you'd probably know that anyway) but the security part is the most important. A well installed camera will ensure great images for easy identification.

Check in area

Again another high traffic area. This is great security for things as simple as unattended bags, staff issues as well as guest identification. Even if your desk is not manned all the time, then you can get an accurate idea of how many people are checking into the hotel at any time.

Corridors & store rooms

Theft, health and safety and fire risks are all present and quickly caught using a good quality CCTV system. Everything can be covered using a range of products but care must be taken with aesthetics. Cameras can be discretely positioned and cables hidden so as to be as unobtrusive as possible so as to be as unnoticeable as possible to your guest.

We use a variety of great products from different manufacturers to ensure that you will get exactly what you want for your budget. We do a free estimate and can come out, have a chat and discuss exactly what you want from your CCTV system. Maybe you just want to get an idea of how many people are coming and going or maybe it's to deal with a certain issue that you've been having, if so we can work with you. We can install the CCTV with respect to the building so that it's subtle and discrete but effective. You can also remote view if you like so that you can monitor from anywhere in the world to ensure the smooth running while you aren't there.

Our installers have worked with some of the largest and smallest hotels in Scotland and are great at dealing with all sorts of enquiries. We can even maintain an existing system too. Why not give us a call?
